LHS and RHS refer to the positions of the diagrams themselves. In hindsight I suppose that could be misread.

The sectors are numbered starting from 1, and θi is the angle of the start of the sector (ie the smallest angle measured ccw) so I think the formula is correct in relation to the diagrams.
